Prayer:
God the merciful Father, from you we came, and in your days our lives end. You created our bodies from dust and will return to dust. But our souls that come from your breath will return to you too.
Now look at us who are gathered here, weak humans, easily fall into temptation and sin. But we became strong because the Holy Spirit that You sent faithfully accompanied us. Even so, on our pilgrimage to Your house, we often fall; but rose again because the hand of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, is stretched out and guides us.
Likewise, Father, the life journey of our brothers and sisters who have died, they are not free from mistakes and sins. Because of these mistakes and sins, perhaps the spirits of our brothers and sisters are still in purgatory. They are powerless, except to ask Your forgiveness. We who are gathered here also ask You, please forgive the spirits of our brothers and sisters. We continually ask You for forgiveness, so that later the spirits of our brothers are worthy and worthy of Your calling into eternal life with the saints.
Through the Body of Your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ under the appearance of bread, and through the Blood of Your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ under the appearance of wine, we commend the spirits of our brothers and sisters into Your hands. Wash away the guilt and sin that still clings to it with Your pardoning love. For You are the one who lives and reigns, now and forever. Amen
