Tomb Visit

Cemetery visits as a local culture or tradition then evolve and merge into teachings of religions, or undergo a syncretism process that is a blend of religions that interact with local culture and traditions.
In the Catholic Church,  prayer for the departed souls or a pilgrimage to the cemetery is a way to remember and live in fellowship with those who have died.  The Second Vatican Council in its document on the Church, Lumen Gentium, states that unity with those who have rested in Christ is not broken, but is strengthened by the sharing of spiritual treasures (cf. LG 49). The document also reminded us that this tradition has been declared by the Church from the beginning that is since the Second Council of Nicaea (787), therefore prayer before the departed souls can enrich faith. It can be concluded that visiting graves not only encourages us to internalize the value of death in ourselves but also helps us recognize our origins and realize that we are not alone.

Kunjungan Makam: Welcome

From 2nd  to 8th  November, the Church specifically gives time for all the faithful to pray and visit the graves of family or relatives. Tomb visits, which are usually carried out as part of traditions and faith beliefs, become challenging for most people due to the Covid-19 pandemic that changed social life in general.

Recognizing this difficulty and encouraged by loving services to help families/individuals who cannot visit the graves of their relatives due to the distance to the cemetery, the Covid regulation restrictions, and other related reasons, we from the Manete In Me Prayer Group provide a tomb visit service as an extension of the family's attendance to pray for the relatives.

The Services provided include a Tomb Visit Team who will:

  • Sprinkle the tomb with holy water and rosewater,

  • Sprinkle the blessed salt with the sow flower on the tomb,

  • Light a candle and  pray for the departed soul,

  • Clean the tomb (coordinating with the cemetery staff),

  • Mark a cross or tombstone with the sign of the cross by using oil that has been blessed by the priest/pastor,

  • Send pictures/photos of tomb visits,

  • Conduct video/video calls to the family /relatives during tomb visits.

Customers may select the services stated above according to their needs and wishes in the available packages below.
